Object Description

For sale is this set of six Japaense Meiji period silver and enamel teaspoons. Each teaspoon with different floral design and enamel to the bowl. Each spoon has an insect to the handle terminal (Three moths/bees, two butterflies, one beetle).
Two of the spoons carry the triangular turtle mark of the renowned Japanese maker Sanju Saku and I am certain this is a true set of six all by that maker. The spoons are in fantastic original condition with no noticeable enamel losses and no restoration. The detailing of the flowers is really outstanding.
Sanju Saku was one of Japan’s leading silversmiths, based in Yokahama, making and retailing silver with enamels to this style c 1880-1920
