Object Description

An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique George II English cast sterling silver candlesticks; an addition of our ornamental Georgian silverware collection.

These exceptional antique George II cast sterling silver candlesticks have a plain classical English form.

The plain cylindrical capitals are encircled with bands of tooled decoration.

The waisted section of each column features a plain rounded quatrefoil shaped knop to the upper portion and to the lower a swept panelled segment to a plain circular knop; the upper knops bear traces of contemporary engraved crests depicting a wolf.

The columns of these Georgian silver candlesticks surmount plain circular sunken wells and are supported by square stepped bases accented with incurved corners.

Each candlestick does not have a weighted base.

These antique Georgian silver candlesticks are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of each base are all very clear.

The lion passant hallmark to each capital has wear in keeping with age and location.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these examples of Georgian silverware.
