A fine and impressive antique Georgian English sterling silver butter shell/dish; an addition to our dining silverware collection.

This fine antique George III sterling silver butter dish has a plain scallop shell shaped form.

What would be the umbo, of the natural shell, forms the impressive plain scrolling handpiece.

The handpiece of this silver shell butter dish is encompassed with an applied bead decorated border and embellished with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest depicting a wolf pierced with an arrow.

This fine pieces of antique silverware is supported by three nautilus style shell feet.

This antique shell butter dish is a very good gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent condition in keeping with age.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the shell dish handpiece are clear in keeping with age and location.
