Object Description

A magnificent, fine and impressive antique George IV English sterling silver soup tureen; an addition to our collection of serving dishes.

This magnificent antique George IV English sterling silver soup tureen has a rectangular rounded form.

The surface of the body is plain and unembellished, with a fine and impressive applied gadroon decorated border to the upper flared rim.

This antique silver tureen retains the original impressive hallmarked push fit domed cover ornamented with a further band of applied gadroon decoration.

The impressive cover is surmounted by the magnificent original, hallmarked cast sterling silver scrolling handle, enveloped with leaf designs, accented with foliate designs to the lower portion.

This antique silver soup tureen is fitted with two cast sterling silver fluted handles embellished with a simplified leaf design to the centre of the handpiece, in addition to organic lobed motifs to the sockets.

This soup tureen is supported by four magnificent and large Regency style feet, each accented with scrolling leaf designs above a paw foot.

This magnificent silver soup tureen was crafted by the renowned London silversmith Benjamin Smith III.
