Object Description

Woven in hand spun wool, this 19th century Heriz has an unusual simple drawing in comparison to the traditional examples of its era. The soft terracotta/red field complements the harmonious vegetable colour combination of the field, framed by a simple wide blue-grey border. A charming example with a quiet formality to blend in a wide variety of settings.

Object History

Early Heriz carpets from north west Persia are in a class of their own. Prized for their artistic geometric designs, fine durable construction and wonderful vegetable dyed colours, they have always stood out for their aesthetically appealing designs and make ideal decorative rugs.

Object Condition

It is in very good practical condition, still retaining its fringes at both ends and selvedges on both sides.
