The background has discreet colour variation (abrash) providing great depth and richness for the monochrome drawing. A decorative piece with unique character.

Object History

Antique Bidjar carpets from north west Persia are famed amongst Persian tribal village rugs for the quality of their tight precise weaves and often dazzling interaction of their designs and colours. Bidjar is situated in a corridor between the borders of Persia, Anatolia and the Caucasus so has a weaving tradition that encompasses a varied mix of cultural influences. This can be seen in the broad range of styles and patterns which makes them unique and challenging in trying to distinguish them from rugs from other regions.  They are diverse and versatile pieces that would complement classic and contemporary settings alike.

Object Condition

In very good condition, still retaining it original fringes at both ends and selvedges on both sides.
