Object Description

This stunning pair of crested and cased Victorian grape scissors were made in London in 1864 by George Adams and measure 7.5 inches in length, they are parcel gilt and have grape vines with grapes running up the stems where they have shield shaped crests of an elephants head above which are cherubs in front of the vines and fruit leading into the reeded finger rings. The central spigot has a flower head design with steel centre and the blades are fully and clearly hallmarked. They are contained in their original fitted green leather case with green velvet and satin interior. They are in excellent condition and weigh 5.20 ounces or 161 grams, a beautiful pair of grape scissors.
