Object Description
This superb quality armorial Queen Anne Britannia silver dog nosed basting spoon was made in London in 1705 by Thomas Allen and measures 13 5/16 inches in length, it has a lovely coat of arms to the back of the stem where it is also fully hallmarked although as with many Britannia silver spoons the marks apart from the makers mark and the lions head erased were very lightly struck and are illegible, it has a very well defined long rat tail to the back of the bowl and the bowl is well formed and of good gauge, a super spoon of very good quality weighing ounces or grams.
