Object Description

This super quality armorial William & Mary silver tobacco box was made in London in 1694 by Nathaniel Lock and was part of the Poor Collection. It measures almost 4 inches long by just over 3 inches wide and is 1 inch deep. It has a fine coat of arms to the pull off lid with an unusual crest above, with a rope work border to the base and the lid and is fully and clearly hallmarked to the side on the base, with the makers mark and lion passant inside the lid and with the lion passant to the inside of the base. A very nice box with a good colour and feel to it weighing 5.20 ounces or 162 grams.
