Object Description
This superb crested George III silver serving trowel was made in London in 1772 by William Plummer and measures 11.75 inches in length’ it has a cast handle that is pierced to the top and has a leaf design in the piercing with a graduating pattern along the handle to the bottom where it joins the blade and there is a further cast leaf design and to the back of the handle there is an unusual looking crest. The blade itself is well pierced and engraved and has a central pierced out heron swallowing a fish, it is fully and clearly hallmarked to the back of the blade and is in excellent condition weighing 6.85 ounces or 214 grams.
