This superb crested and armorial George II silver coffee pot was made in London in 1750 by Thomas Whipham and measures 10.5 inches tall by 8.25 inches handle to spout and is 4 3/8 inches in dia across the base. It has a lovely crest of a talbot inside a florid cartouche to one side and a shaded florid cartouche to the other. It has a scrolled fruit wood handle (a couple of cracks at the base but they are stable and causing no problem) with a cast and scrolled ferrule and drop detailing to the top of the handle and cast and scrolled detailing at the base. It has a lovely cast and fluted swan neck spout with birds head detailing, a domed lid with bun finial and is fully hallmarked to the side. A lovely quality pot in very good condition weighing 30.60 ounces or 952 grams.
