Object Description

This superb quality oblong Georgian silver box was made in London in 1827 by Richard Sullivan and measures 3.25 inches in length by 1.75 inches wide and is 1.5 inches deep, it has 4 panels around the sides with engine turned engraving in them, then reeded decoration above and below these as well as 4 reeded upright separation posts, underneath the reeding continues around the edge with engine turned engraving inside and to the hinged lid there is a further area of reeding around the lid with a large central oblong agate stone which is well figured, inside the box is gilded and to the lid appears the initials JHT and the date 1853 inside a banner and it is fully and clearly hallmarked both in the lid and the base. A beautiful box of excellent quality in excellent condition weighing 5.65 ounces or 175 grams.
