Object Description

This large and heavy crested George III Scottish silver soup or punch ladle was made in Edinburgh in 1770 by James Hewitt and measures 15 inches in length and has the crest of a plough to the front of the stem with the motto LABOR ET INDUSRIA written above it, it has a round bowl of thick gauge and is fully hallmarked to the back of the stem with a facet design to the heel of bowl, a very substantial ladle in very good condition weighing 7.6 ounces or 237 grams.
