Object Description
This heavy George II silver gilt snuff box was made C1760 and is unmarked, it has a male and female figure to the lid seating on a grassy mound below a tree framed in a shell cornered border, there is also foliage running around the top at the border, the sides are shaped and each panel is different, one has fruits, one foliage and a bird, one vines and grapes and the fourth with a dog and duck, the underside is also decorated with foliage ducks and a squirrel, it has a central raised panel decorated with 3 birds, vines, grapes and fruits and foliage, the thumb piece is also foliate and the hinge is good, a very nice box in lovely condition weighing 3.20 ounces or 99 grams.
