Thomas Miles Richardson Snr 1784-1848 British
Newcastle painter and engraver who worked in oil and watercolour. Thomas painted romantic landscapes of the north of England, the Scottish Highlands, Lake District, Wales, West Country and many places around the United Kingdom. Thomas also painted scenes of Switzerland, Italy and France. He admired the work of David Bates, John Constable and William Shayer. Richardson was a founder member of Northern Academy of Arts who also exhibited at the Royal Academy (13), Scottish Royal Academy (17) and the Royal Society of British Artists. Examples of his work can be found at British Museum; Victoria and Albert Museum; Grosvenor Museum; Cartwright Hall, Bradford; Darby Art Gallery; Leeds City Art Gallery; Walker Gallery, Liverpool; National Gallery of Ireland; Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle; Reading Art Gallery; Tyne and Wear Museum, plus many other British Galleries. Works by Richardson are in private collections and Museums around the world.
