Object Description
A gold and diamond bangle designed by Paloma Picasso for Tiffany & Co. c.1980, the solid bangle in 18ct yellow gold with oval profile, hinged opening to the side and tapering wider area to the centre top which is inset with a platinum sphere pavé set throughout with round brilliant cut diamonds. The diamonds are bright and lively, are all high quality and have been well matched. The bangle has a lovely weight to it and due to the oval shape sits well on the wrist. Paloma Picasso began working with Tiffany & Co. in 1980, meaning this is one of her earliest designs for them. She went on to create numerous different collections becoming renowned for jewels with an identifiable style and personality which she has described as “bold, with a certain simplicity and strength, a strong point of view”.
