Transitional Blue and White Chinese Double Gourd Vase

Object Description

Chongzhen / Shunzhi Chinese blue and white Transitional porcelain double gourd bottle vase.
The vase is an excellent example of the transitional period with very bright blue cobalt painting. This shows a scene of possibly a family about to start a journey. The figures are loading a chariot / wagon a horse and awaiting rider and foot men ready to accompany the travellers.. The scene also includes wonderful trees and foliage and flocks of birds.
The top section is painted with tall flower sprays of noble flowers including Chrysanthemum, hibiscus and lotus.
the sections are separated with various borders either hatched, scrolling flowers or shaped pendants

Object Condition

Overall good, there is a small are of restoration to the rim which can only be seen on the inside. This is of museum quality and can be seen in the photograph. original condition is available to be viewed if wanted
