Chinese Transitional blue and white lidded porcelain dry mustard pot made at the kilns at Jingdezhen as export ware to Holland and then on to European countries. Carried by the Dutch east India company.
Painted to show a fruiting spray of peaches to one side and to the other a spray of flowering lilies with bamboo.
In Chinese folk lore the Peach is the elixir of life and to the Daoist it represents spring and an emblem of marriage. the lily means to bring on ones family of boy children and with bamboo meaning humility and endurance, and would need endurance with a large family of sons.
Excellent colour and painting
