Object Description
These pedestals are designed in an elegant Neoclassical style after furniture and decorative arts of the French Louis XVI period (1774-1793).
The pedestals (or stands) are shaped like classical columns. They feature circular ebonised wood tops, set on simple giltwood capitals. These are supported by smooth, cylindrical ebonised wood shafts. The shafts are decorated with carved giltwood lion head masks holding gilt metal rings in their mouths. Carved giltwood laurel leaf swags are draped between these masks. The columns stand on giltwood bases, set on short circular ebonised wood plinths.
These pedestals will add beauty and sophistication to an interior, especially once topped by high-quality works of sculpture or decorative art.
