Two large Chinese cloisonné enamel vases
Chinese, 20th Century
Height 65cm, diameter 32cm
These large three-sectioned circular vases, or urns, are finely decorated all over in cloisonné enamel. The main vase bodies masterfully depict various different exotic birds in flight and parrots sat on tree branches, all set in an arrangement of foliage, with grape vines, leaves and flowers. Each section is separated by a gilt ring terminating in the outward flaring top and lower ends.
These magnificent vases have a tropical flair, with the cloisonne enamel work being carried out in several different vibrant colours including blue, green, purple, yellow and red, set against a darker background. They would make a wondrous addition to maximalist setting, or could be used as a real feature point in a more paired back scheme.
