Object Description

White glazed porcelain figures of seated hounds.
The hound was a symbol of loyalty and statues of them were often used to ‘guard’ the entrances to temples or important places.

Object History

From the Ca Mau Shipwreck, sank between 1723-1735, which has been found in 1998 in South China Sea, off the south coast of Vietnam. The ship was transporting Chinese export porcelains.
