Each wooden column, designed about a Classical scheme, stands on a square plinth inset with a gilt bronze moulding. The shaft of each column is finished with twelve darkly stained flutes and is topped by a wooden capital. Each flute, at the top and the bottom, is inset with gilt bronze bead and foliage form mounts. Each column is surmounted by a gilt bronze and marble topped entablature, the marble in one with a chamfered edge and of a slightly different type to the square-edged marble in the other.
