Object Description

This nice quality unusual George III silver serving trowel was made in London in 1789 by Peter and Anne Bateman and measures 11.5 inches in length, it has a fiddle pattern handle bearing the initials D over B in flowing script and the blade itself has a rounded end and is nicely pierced and engraved with an engraved garland of flowers below and an engraved rising sun design above the flowers. It is fully and clearly hallmarked to the back of the handle and is in very good condition weighing 4.10 ounces or 128 grams.
