Vintage Van Cleef & Arpels gold cufflink and tie pin set. A matching pair of cufflinks, each composed of a rectangular design featuring a diagonal chevron pattern, attached to a matching rectangular hinged plaque by a secure flat curved bar, approximately 1.3cm in length, the matching tie pin featuring a continuous diagonal linear pattern, approximately 4.7cm in length. Cufflinks signed Van Cleef & Arpels, maker’s mark for ‘Georges Lenfant’, marked 18 carat yellow gold, tie pin signed VCA for Van Cleef & Arpels, makers’s mark for ‘Georges Lenfant’, marked 18 carat yellow gold, numbered ‘15520’ & ’53’, French, circa 1970, accompanied by original fitted box.
Georges Lenfant was one of the most important jewellery designers and manufacturers of the twentieth century. His firm created jewels retailed by Cartier, Hermes, Mellerio, and Van Cleef and Arpels, to name a few.
