This Charles II silver coconut cup was made C1660 by WS and measures 5 1/8 inches tall by almost 4 inches in dia across the top and 2 13/16 inches across the base. The nut is lined with silver and has a silver border around the top with a decorative pattern coming down from that (there is one piece missing) it also has 3 straps running down from the border to a cup shape in which the coconut sits with the same design around that and in turn that leads down the the stepped pedestal base that bears the engraved initials of L over I*M, the top border is engraved with Oliver Heywood’s 1629 – 1702 and the makers mark of WS, the coconut is in very good condition with no damage, the silver is in as is condition with a patch to the inside border and the aforementioned missing piece but this doesn’t detract from the history of this piece – more can be found on the man himself at Oliver Heywood (minister) – Wikipedia and Oliver Heywood (1629-1702) | WikiTree FREE Family Tree – a lovely very old coconut cup with lots of history.
