Object Description

This very rare Georgian silver vinaigrette was made in London in 1826 by Ledsam Vale & Wheeler and measures 1.5 inches in length by 1 inch wide and is 3.8 inches deep, it has engine turned engraving to all sides with no signs of wear and cast foliate edges, there is a vacant oblong cartouche to the lid and it is gilded to the interior. The grille is most unusual with acanthus leaves and piercing and a solid cartouche bearing a bearded face. It is fully and clearly hallmarked to top and bottom and is in very good condition.
