Object Description
This very rare George II silver and tortoiseshell heart shaped pique box was made C1730 and measures 3 1/8 inches top to bottom by 2 5/16 inches at it’s widest and is 0.5 inches deep, it has a bannered motto over the top TOUT ME BLESSE and below there is a heart with 4 arrows through it – to either side there are trees and birds and a village scene below with a pond and a swan swimming on it with a bank and plant to the foreground, the edge of the heart top is silver as is the hinge and also to the bottom there is a piece of silver covering the pointed joint where it may have split, if so this is very old and may even be original, the base is tortoiseshell too, there are some losses to the silver but there is a very similar box to this in the Lion collection book but that has quite a bit more missing than this one, these are very rare boxes.
