Object Description

This very rare pair of Irish provincial George III bright cut engraved sugar tongs were made C1760 possibly Joseph Taylor of Cork and measure 5.75 inches long, the arms are nicely decorated with bright cut engraving of flowers and foliage and to the bridge there is the crest of an ostrich holding a horseshoe. They are hallmarked to the inside of the bridge with the makers mark of I.T and STERLG – a very nice pair of provincial tongs.
