Object Description

This very rare provincial George III silver barrel beaker was made in Chester in 1784 by George Walker I and measures 3 inches tall by 2 9/16 inches in dia across the top and 2 inches across the base. It is engraved to look like a barrel and has 2 bands of reeding towards the top and base and under the base the initials S.M.D. Are engraved. It is fully hallmarked to the side and has the benefit of an incuse monarchs head for 1784 – a rare item in very good condition weighing 3.30 ounces or 103 grams.
