Maker: Wakely & Wheeler

An old London silversmith firm dating back to 1791 when John Lias started the business as a buckle-maker, joined in partnership in 1818 by his son Henry Lias I, and another son Charles from 1823 to 1837. Henry Lias I became partners with his son Henry Lias II from 1850 and in 1879 Henry Lias II went into business with James Wakely. In 1884 the business remained in the hands of James Wakely and Frank Wheeler, becoming Wakely & Wheeler in 1909. In 1957 the business was acquired by Padgett & Braham Ltd.

Object Condition

The cup is in very good condition with moderate wear commensurate with age. The colour is very charming with some wear to the gilding, particularly the lower body and handles.
