Object Description
Victorian diamond swallow brooch. Set with eighty three round mixed old cut diamonds in open back grain and cutdown settings with a combined weight of 3.10 carats, further decorated with seven round rose cut diamonds in closed back grain and cutdown settings with a combined weight of 0.07 carats and embellished with a round cabochon natural unenhanced ruby in an open back grain setting with an approximate weight of 0.01 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 3.17 carats, to a graceful swallow design, depicted with wings spread in flight featuring polished and textured borders and intricately pierced open backholing, fitted to reverse with a removable hinged pin and scroll clasp, approximately 5.3cm in length. Tested yellow gold and silver, English, circa 1890, accompanied by fitted box.
