A 19th century Victorian turned lignum vitae mallet.
The mallet has a heavy bulbous head and a turned handle is decorated with a carved thistle.
The mallet could have been ceremonial and used in the laying of a foundation stone on a building.
The mallet is in good condition. (Circa 1880)
