Object Literature

Edward Masters a painter of farmyard and village scenes. He also went by the name of William Masters, Edwin Masters and Thomas Masters. His work also closely resembles that of Georgina Lara also known as Edwina Lara and it is widely believed they are all the same person. He exhibited a number of works at Suffolk Street including “Sunset on Woking Common”. Master’s paintings are full of charm, often containing groups of small figures and painted with a warm palette. Many of his works are also centred on busy inns set in wooded areas, such as this fine example. His distinctive style has contributed towards his continued popularity amongst art collectors.

The painting is housed in a new English made gilt frame which is in excellent condition.
