Object Description

This paintings shows Eugène Boudin’s ability to capture seascapes so brilliantly, treating the seashores as pure landscapes that become animated through the fishermen in the sea and the washerwomen and sailors who appear on the shoreline. This particular coastal scene is of the Normandy coast in a town called Villerville, where Boudin spent many a summer.
