Walnut upholstered armchair, Flemish circa 1660

Object Description

Important walnut upholstered armchair, the downswept scrolling arms, the arm uprights, the front and back legs carved with acanthus leaves, the back uprights carved with single floral motifs, the front stretcher pierced and carved, the legs united by a shaped X stretcher formed of four scrolls carved with acanthus leaves. Flemish.

Object Condition

Good colour and patina other than on the arms where there have been upholstered pads. Finial missing from the centre of the X stretcher.
