Object Description

Circa 1820. A quality George IV mahogany two door wardrobe likely to be by ‘William Trotter of Edinburgh’. The top with a ridged panel, surmounted by two well carved finials with carved rondels to the front. A pair of two panel doors each with matching flame mahogany panels, the inside of the wardrobe has uninterrupted hanging on the left, on the right hand side a fixed shelf and a bank of four drawers, each of the drawers with gilded brass swan neck handles and oval backplates. The doors have a ribbed pilaster similar to the moulding on the top running from top to bottom. Beneath the doors is a classic Trotter feature of a quarter beading which runs around the front and sides of the robe, all standing on a deep enclosed plinth. The wardrobe has excellent colour and patination.
