Object Description
Rare Chinese – Late Yongzheng – polychrome biscuit porcelain model of a family group.
Excellent modelling to show a serene mother holding a baby while another young child is looking up to her.
The faces and hands are unglazed and the base is unpainted. the colours of blue white and celadon are bright and well used by a very good potter and decorator. Modelling is very good
Biscuit porcelain was dry fired ( with out glaze), then the paint and enamels were applied to the body and fired again. Biscuit porcelain means that it saved on glaze although two firings were still needed.
This is such a great piece.
Excellent bright colouring and detail
