For over 40 years Harvey’s Antiques have been holding themed exhibitions and their latest example “A Volume of Libraries” is on at the moment. Every room at their extensive premises in Witney, at the heart of the Oxfordshire Cotswolds, is given over to displays of library Furniture ranging from a James II period Burr Walnut Bureau Bookcase through to a mid 19th Century Mahogany 6 drawer Partners’ Writing Table.
Amongst other pieces there are several made by Gillows of Lancaster, including a superb free standing Library Secretaire Desk, and what Gillows refer to as a “Chamber Table”. There is a catalogue to accompany the event which can be viewed online at :
