Fair Manager

The Role:

Reports to: the CEO, LAPADA

Overall responsibility: the successful delivery, to budget, of all aspects of the annual LAPADA Fair, Berkley Square.

LAPADA Fair: Key tasks:

  • Supporting the negotiation and appointment of contractor contracts
  • Fair design and branding, including restaurant
  • Setting and achieving Fair budget
  • Stand sales
  • Sales and negotiation of sponsorships, media partnerships, charity event and talks programme
  • Financial reporting to CEO and LAPADA Board
  • Supporting the CEO on negotiation of planning application and licences
  • Satisfying Health and Safety regulations
  • Working closely with local residents’ association
  • Management of Fair build and all on site activities
  • Management, together with the CEO, of all Fair marketing activities and Fair website
  • Database management and compliance
  • Production of Fair catalogue
  • Post Fair research

The Person:

Previous event organisation experience is essential as is creativity, management ability and a genuine appreciation for art and antiques.

You will require the vision, confidence and enthusiasm to take ownership of the project and to continue to deliver this highly respected event to the very highest standard.

You will be used to facilitating agreements with contractors and suppliers and satisfying all aspects of visitor and exhibitor requirements.

You will be used to working with a PR team to implement PR and marketing activities across digital, print and broadcast media to maximise stand sales and visitor attendance.

With excellent communication skills you will secure new sponsorship contracts and ensure satisfactory delivery.

Familiarity with website content provision, SEO and Google Analytics required as are IT skills.

Salary: £45-50,000 + bonus

Membership Officer

Main responsibilities:

Prospective and Existing Member Relations

  • Create and build list of prospective members
  • Speak to prospective members about the benefits of applying for LAPADA membership,
  • Guide applicants through the application process, checking their references and producing quarterly membership reports
  • Confirm successful applicants
    • Compile and post membership packs
    • Create profiles for new members on the internal membership database and on the Lapada.org website
    • Follow through subscription processes
  • Answer queries from members related to membership or benefits or website
  • Research potential new benefits for members
  • Visit fairs and events to recruit new members
  • Members’ data management: keep updated throughout LAPADA database (CRM), mailing (MailChimp) websites (LAPADA and CINOA) and printed Directory of Members listings
  • Produce analytical reports of membership statistics

Website

  • Help members to use the website
  • Create accounts for new members
  • Help create new landing pages, misc. content, new Knowledge Bank content
  • Support with website strategy and liaise with other members of the team for website promotion

Secondary duties:

Certificates of Age

  • Working in tandem with the Administrator to coordinate the issuance of Certificates of Age

Marketing

  • Maintain LAPADA public email database
  • Help create content for Facebook/Twitter/ & some Instagram
  • Draft monthly members’ newsletters

The LAPADA Fair

  • Onsite presence for the duration of the Fair from build-up to break-down (overtime paid)

Events

  • Plan, set up and man the LAPADA stand at the Olympia Fair in June

General Communication/Other

  • Primary liaison in screening telephone calls and responding accordingly
  • Monitor and respond to emails in the general enquiries mailboxes

Skills and attributes:

  • Professional demeanor
  • Personable; able to initiate discussions with prospective members and maintain good relations with members
  • Organised; able to prioritise and keep meticulous records
  • Experienced with a CRM system

Salary: £25,000
