Object Literature

Counter boxes contained a number of disks, commonly stamped or engraved with portraits of English monarchs, that were used as game markers and counting devices. Counter boxes were rarely marked.

Object Condition

In good condition with minor surface scratching and a few small dinks. The engraving is hand done and a nice feature are the two tiny “x”s (see final image), to help line up the lid engraving with the body.
