Object Description

A beautiful Regence caned armchair with a finely carved decoration featuring a symmetrical design of shells, scrolls and pendants of flowers. The back and seat are caned with a rather close mesh. The rectangular back with fine carving on the top rail centred by a shell decoration, a motif that is repeated on the seat rail. The serpentine arms as well as the cabriole legs with foliate decoration, the legs ending in scroll form feet. Carved in oak wood. Having accumulated a beautiful patina this armchair is of character: light in design and rich in its presence.
