Object Description
A Very Attractive Mid 19th Century Giltwood Circular
Convex Mirror Of Unusually Large Proportion Having
Carved Decoration To Moulded Frame And Replaced
Convex Mirror Plate
(This charming convex mirror is unusually large and
would be the making of most rooms. Of course the
original purpose of a convex mirror was/is to distort
the image displayed and make rooms appear bigger
than they actually are. With the size of this mirror
one can only imagine how big the original room it
was made for must have seemed. The convex mirror
plate itself is a modern replacement but has been very
sympathetically manufactured with an appropriate
amount of simulated wear to the silvering which creates
a charming effect whilst still leaving the mirror functional.),
