Object Description
19th century French gilt bronze and glass six-light chandelier
French, Late 19th Century
Height 30cm, diameter 72cm
This very elegant late 19th century French six-light chandelier is crafted from frosted glass and gilt bronze and is of an unusual design.
The frosted glass bowl features cut detailing in the shape of flower petals. These surround an ormolu finial which is attached to the larger, more ornate chandelier frame. Various motifs such as acanthus leaves as well as reed and ribbon motifs are cast on the surface of the ormolu. Six short arms hang from the frame, the bulb holders in the shape of acanthus leaves.
Once illuminated the frosted glass is beautifully illuminated and the ormolu features are enhanced, making this chandelier a very desirable addition to one’s interior space.
