Object Description
This exceptionally detailed wooden marquetry panel exhibits some of the highest quality of French craftsmanship and design. The panel is of rectangular form, and features a strikingly detailed and intricate composition of a huge bouquet of flowers issuing from a central urn, surrounded by birds, leaves and mythical creatures. Some of the wood has been tinted and coloured green and white, which heightens the contrast between the marquetry design and the intense darkness of the ebonised wood backing. The panel is set into an olive wood frame which exhibits a stunning banded pattern.
