Object Description
A 19th century large scale George II style fire surround.
Handcrafted circa 1800, this George II style fireplace is presented in a gilt and white painted finish.
This large scale fireplace has a stepped outline, with lavish details spilling from the frame.
Elaborate fruit and floral garlands are draped across the frieze. The carvings overlap the gilded edging giving a natural life to the intricate high relief designs.
The frieze is centred with a female mask, crowned with a laurel wreath that weaves into the foliate themes.
The moulded shelf stands on acanthus scrolling corbel supports to finish this striking piece.
