Object Description

A Superb Quality Mid 19th Century William IV Period Mahogany Library Armchair Of Bold Proportions Having Swept And Scrolling Arms With Superbly Carved X Framed Supports, Over Large Bucket Seat Raised On Extremely Elegant Sabre Legs With Original Brass Castors.

This exceptional quality 19th Century William IV period mahoghany library chair is of a relatively unusual form which exudes elegance, class and sophistication.

Whilst boasting all of the above in terms of form it is also worth noting that the chair boasts great function, comfort and practicality.

The chair has clearly been constructed in one of the top workshops of the time which can be evidenced by the overall quality of construction, the rich mahogany timbers which have been used and the depth of the carved decoration.

Perfect for a whole variety of spaces around both the home and office this chair would really stand out, whilst at the same time offering a more than comfortable place to sit for whatever period of time is desired.

Overall the condition is excellent with a few very minor old repairs and restorations which are to be expected on a functional piece of furniture of this age and overall the description can certainly be described as good. As with all items which we offer for sale the chair has been attended to in our workshops by our highly skilled antique furniture restorers, where it has simply been cleaned and naturally wax polished in the traditional fashion.

It is also worth noting that the leather covering is also relatively recent, therefore remains in excellent condition.
