Rare bleached mahogany Northern Italian console table with a black Belgium marble top in the French Louis Philippe manner.
Italian, circa 1840.
This fine quality and unusual bleached mahogany console table of grand proportions, has a rectangular moulded black Belgium marble top over a cushion frieze drawer, held by carved masked supports terminating on lion masks and paw feet united by a shaped platform stretcher base.
Very unusual as we have not seen a console with these carvings before, we feel it is a French Louis Philippe design but with the construction methods and carving has been made in Northern Italy.
A very decorative piece in excellent condition which will work in both a contemporary or traditional setting.
