Object Description
Well proportioned Victorian oak Gothic revival open armchair stamped G Tilley.
English Circa 1860.
Of good deep proportions having an oak framed shaped padded back with inset fluted columns, padded armrests supported by tapering fluted columns on plinth bases, flanking a sprung stuff-over seat newly upholstered in calico with space nail stud work. The front legs of typical Gothic form having trefoil Gothic tracery carved brackets and fluted turned legs united by a front foot rail terminating on the original brass and porcelain castors.
In wonderful original condition having been newly recovered retaining the original horsehair upholstery.
A good deep 19th century armchair that will make an ideal desk chair or reading chair.
