Object Description
63-Piece Antique German Floral Porcelain Part Dinner Service
Continental, c.1900
Largest plate: 36cm in diameter, 5cm in depth
Smaller plates: 23.5cm in diameter, 2.5cm in depth.
This 63-piece part dinner service brings together pieces from several German factories, each finely hand-painted with floral sprays in vibrant polychrome enamels. Worked in the Dresden and Meissen tradition, the service shows a remarkable harmony of form and decoration despite the range of factory marks present.
The service includes a variety of dinner, dessert, and serving pieces. Many carry delicate floral bouquets arranged around the centre, while others show a single floral spray with smaller blossoms scattered across the border. Rich gilt rims and finely moulded scalloped edges complete the Rococo-inspired design, lending the ensemble a cohesive and highly decorative character.
The pieces bear a variety of factory and decorator’s marks to the undersides.
The plates are all gold-painted around the rim and bear a variety of makers’ marks as shown.
