Object Description
Very rare 19th century writing table of particularly fine form standing on two slender supports with very thin platform base. The base is carved with c-scrolls, there are turned bun feet with casters hidden beneath. The supports are square in section with coffering and carving in the Gothic manner. The top is thin with plenty of knee room, the surface is quarter cut ash with ebony stringing. The edge of the top is profusely carved with acorns or oak leaves. It can be raised as required with changing the original structure by inserting a wooden disk between the leg and the caster.
